71 Being Kind to Animals

Rina loves animals more than anything. Her two cats and her secret dream (yes, secret, so I will not write it down here!) are the living proof of her belief. When I asked her, her answer came immediately. “Being kind to animals”, she smiled. We recently went to a tattoo studio together where she got two paw prints of her cats tattooed. And believe me or not – the tattoo just melts into her body like the most natural thing. As if it is supposed to be there. Ever since she was a child, Rina has been in love with animals. I could not imagine anyone being more considerate with their animals than her. The soft touch. The care.
Initially, I planned to have one of her cats make a paw print on Rina’s smallest. I even prepared some non-toxic pigment print colour, but somehow we never ended up doing this – maybe this would not actually have been kind to animals, I realised. So, Rina’s smallest turned out differently:
It shows her open hand and one of her cats’ paw reaching out to her on a soft pastel background, an intimate moment of mutually sought and cherished connection.
