NEUEREALITAET is an ongoing artistic research project investigating how invisible modes of perception become materially visible through painting.
The artist Alice Bischof develops NEUEREALITAET as a distinct reality coded in symbols emerging from inner spaces of perception.
Her paintings arise from images that become visible in states between waking and dreaming, as well as in spontaneous visions. They materialise the moment in which the invisible takes form.
From an evolving "Alphabet" of symbols developed over many years, Bischof constructs pictorial spaces that function like poems or narratives. What began as individual signs has gradually condensed into increasingly complex relationships. Rather than following a linear logic, the images operate according to their own grammar, in which each symbol acquires meaning only through its relation to the others.
For Bischof, painting renders perceptible what can scarcely be articulated in language: the simultaneity of inner perception and external reality, proximity and distance, connection and separation, surrender and structure. Her works resist fixed interpretations, opening a space in which opposites are not resolved but experienced simultaneously.
