“Hasn’t everybody dreamt of flying?”, Patrick smiled. His energy was contagious, his eyes sparked with adventure.
“One should meet everybody with the same level of respect, and treat people the same way. Only that way, good relationships can be created. I believe in charity”, he said. “I also believe in living your dreams, now. You need a passion, something you are burning for. For me, this is base jumping and sky diving. When I do it, I am in the moment. In the deepest meditation. I feel free.”
I asked him what all of these things had in common.
“Just before jumping, on the brink, everybody is the same. Everybody is going through the same fear”, he answered. “This is how all of these things relate. I believe in equality, the freedom that equality creates for us."
Just before jumping, Patrick experiences deep equality, he is living his passion, and he is rewarded with the freedom of flying.
Patrick’s smallest is inspired by the necklace he was wearing that day, because the necklace itself can be read as a symbol for his believe. A round amulet with a turquoise, wavy pattern hanging on and held by a golden thread. The waves are all equal, carried by the blue tones mirroring of the sky. The golden thread symbolises the eternal connection we hold here on earth, a connection that we all equally have.
