49 Movement

It was night, I was coming home, a bunch of groceries in my hands. At the bottom of my houses, there is a bakery with a bench outside. People use this bench day and night, drinking, smoking, waiting, chatting.

A guy was sitting on that bench in front of my house, waiting for someone. I hesitated. Should I talk to him? I was about to unlock the front door when I thought: Those chances, you got to take them! So, I pulled the key back. “Excuse me, would you like to participate in my art project?”, I asked. He smiled. After some explanations, he said yes.

Dennis believes that movement brings incredible benefits to people. He also believes in spending time with the people that you genuinely like.

“I actually play soccer, right here” – he pointed in the direction of the nearby sports park. “What’s your position?”, I asked. “Full-back”, he replied. “My team is Empor Berlin.”

Empor Berlin – you could translate it as ‘Up Berlin’, which made sense: As we explored the topic further, he told me that whenever he felt stuck in an emotional hole, movement would get him out of it and lift him up. “Movement helps you have a happy life!” “What does this feel like to you?”, I asked. “Like a flash, like a wave…”

Dennis’ smallest features his favourite colours: navy blue and olive green. A navy blue soccer team …on the playing field of life… with flashy golden waves signifying the uplifting energy between the players, a team of people who genuinely like each other!
